Conduction shape factor
Phrase
This approach applied to 2-D conduction involving two isothermal surfaces, with all other surfaces being adiabatic.
Example: The shape factor can be related to the thermal resistance.
es: Factor de forma de conducción
Convection resistance
Phrase
Is the thermal resistance for a solid wall with convection heat transfer on each side.
Example: The convection thermal resistance is calculated from the convection heat transfer coefficient and the conduction thermal resistance.
es: Resistencia de convección
Critical radius of insulation
Phrase
The critical radius of insulation is a counterintuitive concept within the study of heat transfer.
Example: Critical radius of insulation means the radius at which the heat transfer occured is maximum.
es: Radio crítico de aislamiento
Cylinder conduction resistance
Phrase
Thermal resistance is a heat property and a measurement of a temperature difference by which an object or material resists a heat flow. Thermal resistance is the reciprocal of thermal conductance. And in this case is in the cylinder.
Example: Rcyl is the conduction resistance of the cylinder layer.
es: Resistencia a la conducción del cilindro
Efficiency
Phrase
Efficiency is often measured as the ratio of useful output to total input, which can be expressed with the mathematical formula r=P/C, where P is the amount of useful output ("product") produced per the amount C ("cost") of resources consumed.
Example: The total efficiency was low.
es: Eficiencia
Fin effectiveness
Phrase
The effectiveness of a fin is defined as the ratio of heat transfer using fin to that of heat transfer without fin.
Example: The fin efficiency and fin effectiveness are related to the performance of the fin, but they are different quantities.
es: Eficacia de la aleta
Fin efficiency
Phrase
Fin efficiency is defined as the ratio of actual heat flow of the fin to that which would be obtained with a fin of constant temperature uniformly equal to the base surface temperature, that is, one with infinite thermal conductivity.
Example: Fin Efficiency is the ratio of the heat transferred.
es: Eficiencia final
Interface resistance
Phrase
Interfacial thermal resistance, also known as thermal boundary resistance or Kapitza resistance, is a measure of the resistance of an interface to heat flow.
Example: The interfacial resistance between PEM and electrode can be used as a metric to quantify interfacial compatibility.
es: La resistencia térmica interfacial
Plane wall conduction resistance
Phrase
Is the thermal resistance of the wall against heat conduction or simply the conduction resistance of the wall. Rconv is the thermal resistance of the surface against heat convection or simply the convection resistance of the surface.
Example: HEAT CONDUCTION THROUGH A PLANE WALL • Let us consider a plane wall of homogeneous material through which heat is flowing in x-direction. • Let Q +x L = thickness of the wall T0 A = cross-sectional area of the wall k k = thermal conductivity of wall material T1 T0 , T1 = temperature maintained at surfaces 1 and 2.
es: Resistencia a la conducción de la pared plana
Radiation resistance
Phrase
Radiation resistance is that part of an antenna's feedpoint electrical resistance that is caused by the radiation of electromagnetic waves from the antenna.
Example: When the radiation resistance of the antenna matches the characteristic impedance of the transmission line, the SWR is minimum and maximum power reaches the antenna.
es: Resistencia a la radiación
Sphere conduction resistance
Phrase
Consider heat conduction through a hollow sphere of inner radius r1, outer radius r2 and made of a material of constant thermal conductivity.
Example: Conduction of Heat through a Sphere.
es: Resistencia de la conducción de la esfera
Surfaces
Noun
It can be defined as a set of points of a Euclidean space that forms a three-dimensional topological space, which locally, i.e., viewed closely resembles the two-dimensional Euclidean space.
Example: The surfaces of the diferent cylinders have their own dimensions.
es: Superficies
Thermal contact conductance
Phrase
Is a property indicating the thermal conductivity, or ability to conduct heat, between two bodies in contact. The inverse of this property is termed thermal contact resistance.
Example: The thermal contact conductance for aluminum plates.
es: La conductancia de contacto térmico
Thermal contact resistance
Phrase
Thermal contact resistance is defined as the ratio between this temperature drop and the average heat flow across the interface.
Example: The thermal conductance of such contact is of the order of 103–104.
es: La resistencia de contacto térmico
Total thermal resistance
Phrase
The thermal resistance of a material represents the ability of the material to oppose the flow of temperature. In the case of homogeneous materials it is the ratio between the thickness and the thermal conductivity of the material; in inhomogeneous materials the resistance is the inverse of the thermal conductance.
Example: Thermal resistance is a heat property and a measurement of a temperature difference by which an object or material resists a heat flow.
es: Resistencia térmica total
